Governors Island is a 172-acre island in the heart of New York Harbor. Our project is intended to propose a living laboratory and recreational space by constructing an urban structure and furniture system that fill out the experience of the island. It will be build with mixed reality technology and can be continually evolve with experimental programming. Thus, the design is flexible, free, and open-ended. It could accommodate a variety of programmatic needs and by users’ social and participatory design experience. In addition, the system challenges traditional construction while exploring modes of assembly, disassembly and reusability of parts.
