With the demographic changes in society, the trend towards an ageing population has gradually emerged. The social problems associated with it are also of great concern. Due to age, the older population has deteriorated physically and their cognitive abilities are not as good as those of the younger population. Despite their strong desire to get out and about, the roads in most Chinese cities are not well adapted to the aging population, making it difficult for the elderly to find their way around. This project is based on Kevin Lynch’s urban imagery theory, and uses machine learning to discover the factors that make older people feel lost on urban roads from the perspective of older people on foot and propose improvements.
