Contemporary Xi’an is a thousand-year old capital, but there is a dearth of imagery of ancient Chang’an. The current space of Chang’an Street has a clear contrast between ancient and modern times, but lacks vitality. In this project, we propose a method to generate urban renewal strategies through natural language processing. Through natural language processing and sentiment analysis of ancient and modern texts, we compare between the description and emotion differences in ancient and modern texts and suggest an urban renewal of ancient streets in contemporary Xi’an.
